Prof. Sarkar holds the esteemed position of Assistant Professor at MIT, where she also serves as the AT&T Career Development Chair Professor at MIT Media Arts and Sciences. As the visionary Founder and Director of the Nano-Cybernetic Biotrek research lab, she pioneers groundbreaking interdisciplinary research.
At the Nano-Cybernetic Biotrek (NCB) lab, Sarkar is undertaking a bold scientific journey that merges engineering, applied physics, and biology. The lab focuses on developing disruptive technologies for ultra-low power nanoelectronic devices and revolutionizing healthcare through human-machine symbiosis. 2. Yashodhan Kanoria: Advancing the frontier of Market Design
Yashodhan (Yash) Kanoria, an Associate Professor of Business in the Decision, Risk, and Operations division at Columbia Business School, is a distinguished expert in the design of matching marketplaces, market design and supply chain optimization, He has been honoured with the National Science Foundation CAREER Award, received the 2023 Sigecom Test of Time award, and earned an Operations Research best paper award at Amazon.
Kanoria’s academic journey is marked by excellence. He holds a Ph.D. from Stanford University and a B.Tech. from IIT Bombay, where he earned the prestigious President’s Gold Medal.
Dr. Kanoria’s research centres on marketplace design and optimization, with a focus on matching markets and online platforms. He teaches Business Analytics in the MBA core, research-oriented PhD classes on topics like Engineering Online Matching Markets, Statistical Physics, Markets and Algorithms, and offers an elective on Digital Marketplaces.
Yashodhan Kanoria is unmarried, finds joy in music, skiing, hiking, and tending to his plant collection. His two little nieces are his favorites.
3. Vishal Lala: Illuminating Consumer Insights in the Digital Age
Vishal Lala attended Oklahoma State University where he earned a PhD in Marketing from 1999 to 2004. He also pursued an MS in Management Information Systems at Oklahoma State University from 2000 to 2004. Prior to this, he completed his MMS in Marketing at the University of Mumbai from 1996 to 1998. He began his undergraduate studies at St. Xavier’s College, where he obtained a BSc in Chemistry from 1993 to 1996. His early education was at Kendriya Vidyalaya, IIT Bombay, where he completed his elementary, middle, and high school education from 1980 to 1993.
Lala is a Professor at Pace University, New York, specializing in consumer decision-making, web/mobile marketing, and promotions since 2015. Prior to this, he was an Associate Professor at Pace University and served as an Assistant Professor, focusing on similar research areas. Vishal also instructs Data Carpentry workshops and has taught at Columbia and Harvard University. He has contributed to high school education as a Guest Lecturer and has held academic roles at Stevens Institute of Technology and the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.

4. Saurabh Amin: Revolutionizing Infrastructure Systems
Saurabh Amin is a Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), holding various significant roles such as Undergraduate Officer, Director of the Henry L. Pierce Laboratory, Principal Investigator of the Laboratory for Information and Decision Systems (LIDS), and Affiliate Faculty at the Institute for Data, Systems, and Society (IDSS). His research focuses on resilient systems and mobility, particularly in the design and control of infrastructure systems using game theory and optimization.
Prof. Amin received his Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee in 2002, followed by a Master of Science (M.S.) from the University of Texas (UT) Austin in 2004, and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) from the University of California (UC) Berkeley in 2011.
Prof. Amin’s research interests include resilient network control, information systems, incentive design, and optimal resource allocation in large-scale infrastructure systems.
Prof. Amin teaches various courses at MIT, including Engineering for a Sustainable World, Sensing and Intelligent Systems, Engineering Sustainability: Analysis and Design, Multivariate Data Analysis, Machine Learning for Sustainable Systems, Senior Civil and Environmental Engineering Design, and Resilient Networks.
5. Shrikant Mane: Advancing Genomic and Proteomic Research
Prof. Shrikant Mane is a distinguished expert in genomic and proteomic analyses, utilising both microarray and high-throughput DNA sequencing technologies. He received his Ph.D. in Cancer Biology in 1985 and completed his Postdoctoral training at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Currently, he holds the position of Director at the Yale Center for Genome Analysis (YCGA) Shared Resource and serves as the Director of The Keck Biotechnology Resource Laboratory at Yale. With over 25 years of research experience spanning academic and private industry, Dr. Mane has published more than 125 articles, holds 2 patents, and has secured significant funding from NIH and other sources to maintain cutting-edge genomic technologies at Yale. Additionally, he is one of four Principal Investigators (PIs) of the Yale Center for Mendelian Genomics, established in 2012 through an $11.2 million grant from NHGRI. Apart from his administrative roles, Dr. Mane actively pursues research in the field of neuroscience.
Prof. Mane has a demonstrated record of establishing and leading successful genomic facilities. As the Director of the YCGA, he has overseen the provision of over 58,000 sequence analyses, including library preparation, sequencing, and analyses, to a wide range of principal investigators nationwide and internationally.
Prof. Mane’s dedication to teaching and advising is as exemplary as his research endeavors. With a wealth of experience in genomics and proteomics, Mane mentors PhD students with a hands-on approach, guiding them through intricate research projects and fostering a culture of excellence.
